What You Will Find
Welcome to my genealogy site and the home of the Overton Clan #3 (click Here to view the other 9 Overton Clans). On this site you will find information on the descendants of John Overton Senior, who was born around 1756-60 in Virginia. John first appeared on the scene on the 1800 Federal Census in Kershaw District, South Carolina, with his wife and four children. The only known relatives during that period were living in Franklin County, North Carolina and Mecklenburg County, Virginia. The descendents of Aaron of Franklin, Moses of Mecklenburg, and John matched by DNA testing proving a blood connection between the three Overtons. These three Overtons make up the base of Clan #3.
John moved to Georgia from South Carolina around 1815 where he received land in Walton County during the Cherokee Land Lottery of 1821. He died sometime after 1840 in Newton County, Georgia while living with his son, John Junior. John Senior left a long line of descendents who settled in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas.
I hope the information available on this site can help you with your own research. In turn if you find errors or you have additional information that can expand our search of the Overton clan, please contact me.
